Frankensong Edit Assignment

Your assignment today is to straighten out Dr. Frankenstein's mess by cutting apart his song, and placing the fragmented pieces back together to form 3 complete and separate songs.

1. Import the Frankensong file into Garageband
frankensong.mp3 | |
File Size: | 11729 kb |
File Type: | mp3 |
2. Duplicate track 1 by selecting it with your mouse then pressing command+D three times
3. You should now have 3 new blank tracks to drag audio to. Rename your new tracks to keep organized (Band, Piano, Choir) by double-clicking on the existing track names
4. Listen and carefully split the audio regions from your imported track precisely where one song phrase ends and another begins (command+T)
If you double click on the region in the timeline, the editor will appear at the bottom of the screen
You are able to really zoom in tight to make better edits
*** Edits should be precise with no overlap of songs ***

5. Begin to drag those split regions to the new tracks and place the pieces of the songs together like a puzzle (the song phrases are in sequential order already within the imported region)
6. Zoom in tight in the editor window to be sure that you've placed your regions tightly together. Fix any that have gaps.
7. Join together your fragmented regions on each of the respective tracks by highlighting the regions then pressing Command + J
A new (blue) "merged" audio file will replace the fragmented yellow one

8. Your result should be three tracks, having a complete and different song on each track, with one continuous audio region on each track
9. Save your completed project as YOURLASTNAME.frankensong
